On the one hand you had the servants who were full of faith. They stepped out and took a risk, and it paid off. On the other hand, you have the third servant who was full of fear and he hid his gift.
Fear is something that I have struggled a lot with. As an introvert, it is hard for me to step out boldly and then add my fears from things that I have experienced and sometimes it is hard to move at all. Fear can be come a safety net, but like all nets it can be hard to get out of.
Faith on the other hand is more like a safety harness. It holds onto you as you are climbing and catches you when you start to fall. Fear brings lies and insecurity. Faith brings truth and confidence. Fear brings survival, but faith brings LIFE. Fear brings the pretense of safety, but faith brings real safety because we are trusting in the One who gave us the gifts.
Fear brings loss, but faith brings gain. Fear brings jealousy, anger, condemnation, and judgment, but Faith brings love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, and self-control.
So which do I want to be? Full of faith or full of fear? Abba, I want to be filled with faith. I want to take risks for you. I want to live a life that shines with your glory. Take away my fears so that I may step boldly forward in faith.3 Fear of commitment keeps many people from being in relationships.
